Chip passed me the musical baton and he knows not what he does because I’m not as into music as some. I’ll give this a shot though.
Total volume of music files on my computer:
Only 300 or so MB on the PowerBook that I’m writing this on. Rather than listening to my own collection at work, I usually listen to Virgin Radio, Imagine Avenue Radio, or Prairie Home Companion archives via the net. Probably 90% of my cds have not been ripped.
The last CD I bought
A tie:
- “Chutes Too Narrow” by The Shins
- “Final Straw” by Snow Patrol
Song playing right now:
Nothing, I’m watching “Alias” while writing this.
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me
This is a hard question, but here are a few:
- “Run” by Snow Patrol
- “Truly, Madly, Deeply” by Savage Garden
- “Once in a Lifetime” by The Talking Heads
- “Dos Gardenias” by Buena Vista Social Club
- “Rock Your Baby” by George McRae
Five people to whom I’m passing the baton:
I think I’m the last person in the blogosphere to get this, but I’ll give it a shot…
OK, that’s only two, so to complete the five, I’ll link to the first three of these I saw:
I’m awake now, and thought I’d also pass this along to:
I would add Dana, Erin, and Susan but they are not currently blogging.
Thanks for the baton…here’s what I got

I’ll take the baton and run on your track.
Total volume of music files on my computer:
I’m in the process of re-organizing my files, but I believe the number of files is ~3,000 and occupies about 13GB on my HD. Some, but not all, of my 200 some odd CDs have been ripped.
The last CD I bought
The “Black Album” by Metallica. It’s actually a replacement. My first copy, which I bought in 1991, cracked.
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me
These are currently in heavy rotation right now (in no specific order…)
· “Broken” by Seether featuring Amy Lee
· “Holiday” by Green Day
· “Burning Bright” by Shinedown
· “The Hand That Feeds” by Nine Inch Nails
· “Time” by Sarah McLachlan
And considering one arm is in a cast, I shall drop the baton now.
