I spent a lot of time the during the summers of 2002 and 2003 chasing butterflies around the yard with my digital camera, a Canon Powershot G1. It's autofocus is idiosyncratic, so the focus is not always ideal. Some of the pictures may have been taken with borrowed Nikon digicams, which I value for their superior macro capability. Unless otherwise noted, the pictures were taken in my yard in Melrose, a lot of them on a certain red pentas bush that they all seem to like. The date of the photo follows the description in parentheses. Enjoy. 2004 brought a new camera, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR, and a lot more--and better--photos that I need to add to these albums. September 2005 has finally brought some additions, but I still have a tremendous backlog that I may get to one of these days, maybe.
